Clinical Research
The physicians of the Southern California Orthopedic Institute and SCORE are actively involved in clinical research. SCOI surgeons continue to be instrumental in creating and investigating cutting-edge techniques and state-of-the-art equipment. Over the past 30 years, SCORE has participated in FDA trials and post-market trials for new devices, pharmaceutical applications, fixation devices, artificial ligaments, surgical fluids, injectables, non-invasive therapies, and a host of other devices and treatments.
Our expertise in research and development is demonstrated by our extensive list of physician publications, patents and royalty agreements. Our physicians are in great demand to write review articles, technique papers, and case studies. They also act as associate editors and manuscript reviewers for many peer-review journals. Revenue generated through these sources is donated to SCORE to enable its ongoing programs.
SCORE has assisted the SCOI physicians in the preparation of over 200 journal publications, 100 book chapters, and 9 books. Staff includes an in-house medical writer and editor who is a member of the American Medical Writers Association.
SCORE is a leader in the development of electronic and multi-media educational materials. In conjunction with the CLASroom, SCORE has developed teaching materials dedicated towards surgical anatomy and procedures. SCORE has helped develop online educational courses for the AAOS.
