| SCORE Mission Statement
            The Southern  California Orthopedic Research and Education Center (SCORE) is a non-profit  entity originally established in 1983 as the Center for Disorders of the  Knee.  SCORE is dedicated to the pursuit  of excellence in orthopedic practice, through education, publishing, and  research endeavors. The philosophy of  the SCORE Directors is that there are compelling reasons to participate in  innovative education and development, to maintain a high level of excellence in  both clinical care and science.  This  philosophy is embodied in SCORE, which oversees the training of Fellows, intra-  and extramural education, and research.  The research goals of the organization are to: 
                Participate       in formal FDA and company-sponsored studies of new orthopedic devices and       products.Actively       develop new products and services for use in the care and treatment of       orthopedic patients and training of physicians.Determine the       effectiveness of new procedures on both a prospective basis and in       comparison to previously used techniques.               SCORE’s  educational aims are to:               
                Provide       educational programs with state-of-the-art information on advances in       orthopedic surgical, diagnostic, and treatment techniques to physicians,       allied health professionals, and the public, utilizing both didactic       presentations and hands-on lab experiences.Disseminate       information on new research and developments in the diagnosis and       treatment of orthopedic and sports medicine problems with orthopedic       surgeons and other professionals through publication of materials and       educational programs.Respond to       the educational needs of the orthopedic community, based on       needs-assessment.Participate       in national and international medical and training conferences related to       the practice of orthopedics. To  achieve these goals, SCORE has developed the Center for Learning Arthroscopic Skills (CLASroom), manages the nationally  renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) Sports Medicine  Fellowship program, participates in numerous research projects and clinical  trials, oversees the publication of articles, book chapters and texts, and  presents multiple clinical education courses each year.   |
